Clean water is what keeps our planet alive.
Pollutants can harm fish and wildlife populations, kill native vegetation, foul drinking water supplies, and make recreational areas unsafe and unpleasant.
In some way every person contributes to polluting our watershed and in nearly every case we can help keep our water clean simply by making a few small adjustments. Understanding more about Stormwater Runoff will help you to become informed so you can do your part to help keep our water clean.
What is Stormwater Runoff?
Stormwater runoff occurs when precipitation from rain or snow melt flows over the ground. Impervious surfaces like driveways, sidewalks, and streets prevent stormwater from naturally soaking into the ground. Polluted stormwater runoff can have many adverse effects on plants, fish, animals, and people.
