[ARCHIVED] A Message Regarding Water Discoloration

The Borough of Phoenixville has recently experienced water quality concerns related to color in localized regions of our service area. We understand the inconvenience and additional concern this has caused many of our residents and customers. The patience of those affected, and the diligence of those who called in with information was greatly appreciated.

Water Department staff worked diligently to perform localized flushing in response to customer complaints in order to clear these affected areas. Additional sampling was performed and coordination with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection was maintained throughout the event. The cause of the disturbance is still under investigation pending additional test results, but it is believed to be related to maintenance activities at the water treatment plant. Disinfectant residuals in the distribution system were maintained at all times and all bacteria samples were negative. At no point was the water unsafe to drink.

We are not expecting any further water quality issues related to this event. If you are experiencing a water quality issue or have questions regarding your water, please call us 610-933-8801 or use the “Notify the Borough” button at http://phoenixville.org
