Borough News Streets for All
We believe everyone should have safe and reliable transportation choices. A community’s infrastructure should support residents of all ages and abilities to make trips by walking or cycling — because it is convenient, affordable, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. When communities investment in sidewalks, bike lanes, trails, crosswalks, public transit, and other infrastructure it promotes transportation equity, improves public health, and reduces our carbon footprint. The Borough of Phoenixville is partnering with GVF, who has 32 years of nonprofit mobility planning expertise, on the Streets for All project. The project’s goal is to improve the quality of life for residents and employees within the Borough by creating a plan that looks at current transportation conditions and identifies improvements. Coming soon! We want to know your thoughts. In January we will be sending out a survey to find out what your thoughts are about current transportation conditions and what you would like to see improved when it comes to alternative transportation choices. To learn more about the Streets for All project contact Stacey Weiss sweiss@gvftma.com. RESOURCES TRAILS Schuylkill River Trail There are currently over 60 miles of finished trail, including a 26-mile stretch from the City of Philadelphia through Montgomery County to Phoenixville in Chester County.
Trail Segments A shorter Chester County segment of about six miles runs from just outside Phoenixville in Cromby to Parkerford. The trail breaks off in Parkerford and picks up again in Pottstown where it continues for about 20 miles to Reading.
Mont Clare Bridge Trail Connection Project This connection allows for pedestrians and cyclists to safely travel from the Borough of Phoenixville in Chester County to the village of Mont Clare in Montgomery County, via a 0.2-mile section of the Schuylkill River Trail.
Circuit Trails Did you know that one of America’s largest trail networks is in your backyard? Find your trail on the Circuit among 100s of miles of interconnected trails in the Greater Philadelphia region, providing endless opportunities for recreation and commuting.
BIKING Ruti Bike The next time you plan to ride your bike, let Ruti help you find a bike route with the least amount of car traffic. SEPTA’s bicycle policy Most SEPTA vehicles can accommodate bicycles, which we define as two-wheeled, manually powered or electrically assisted vehicles. Folding bicycles are permitted on all vehicles at all times.

POLICE On Wednesday, December 14th, the Phoenixville Police Association held its annual Shop with a Cop Christmas event. 24 children from Phoenixville enjoyed pizza with officers that was donated by Bella Napoli Pizza. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Mayor Peter Urscheler also were in attendance for the holiday celebrations.
The children were given Shop with a Cop gift bags that contained their own customized 'Shop with a Cop' t-shirt, made by Katrina Fusco.
After pictures with Santa and Mrs Claus all the children and the officers boarded a Werner tour bus for our trip to Target in Oaks.
At Target the children were able to shop for Christmas gifts with our Association members, officers from East Brandywine Township Police Department, East Pikeland Township Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police. This event could not be made possible without the generous donations from the community to our Shop with a Cop program.
The Phoenixville Police Association would like to thank Association members Officer Matthew Fusco and Corporal Anthony Duchnosky for organizing this year’s event.

FIRE On Sunday, December 18th, members of the Phoenixville Fire Department escorted Santa around the Borough. As he waved from high up on the fire truck, some of his elves (disguised as fire fighters) passed out candy canes to everyone who came out to say 'Hi!'.
