[ARCHIVED] Temporary Open Air Permit for Business and Restaurants

On June 5th, Governor Wolf authorized Chester County to enter into the Yellow Phase of his Re-opening Plan. At this time, the Borough has not approved or processed any Outdoor Café Permits. Accordingly, outdoor dining on Borough sidewalks is not permitted at this time.

On Tuesday, June 9th, Borough Council will vote on a Resolution that would allow the closure of the 100 and 200 blocks of Bridge Street to vehicular traffic, as well as the Main and Bridge Street Parking Lot.  Main Street and Gay Street will remain open. North Main Street will remain closed at the railroad trestle construction area until that project is completed.

This closure will allow for downtown restaurants/bar and businesses (ie retailers, art studios, boutiques etc.) on Bridge Street to extend outside of their shops onto the sidewalk and the street. This concept will create a pedestrian walkway in the center of the road for patrons to maintain a safe social distance.

Businesses will be permitted to set up in the closed sidewalk and roadway for the following hours:

Thursdays: 4pm – 10pm

Friday through Sunday: 7am – 10pm

These closures will occur every weekend from Thursday at 2pm until the following Monday at 7am.

Patrons coming to the downtown must wear a mask unless seated at a table, or unless the patron is medically unable to wear one.

We strongly encourage that you leave pets at home when choosing to dine downtown to keep the pedestrian right of way clear.

Businesses wishing to apply, must visit https://phoenixville.org/2569/Open-Air-Business-Setup  for more information and details. All applications must be submitted to manager@phoenixville.org

Temporary Open-Air Permit Applications may be submitted prior to the June 9th’s Borough Council meeting. Approval of application process is contingent upon the adoption of the resolution by Council at their June 9th meeting.

The submission of a completed application and a certificate of insurance naming the Borough additionally insured is required for the processing and approval of the a temporary open-air set up permit. An approved permit must be displayed at the permitted locations.
